Natural Rules and "Judges Instructions"

This is an Equal Opportunity pageant system. Race, handicap, or nationality is not to be discriminated against. Children should be judged on facial beauty, poise, personality and appropriate dress. GemStar Productions is a privately owned business and reserves the right to refuse anyone for past or present bad sportsmanship. We are trying to give the children a chance to be children and have fun and will not permit adults to ruin their fun. Be kind and cheer all contestants on these children are trying to perform for you and we expect you to respect them for their effort.

0-3 Supreme group

1.    

  1.   NO MAKE-UP on the 0-23 months 2-3 years light blush, light powder, & lip gloss with no color only.

  2. Dress is long or short Sunday best, Baby Doll or Flower girl dress. Light pearls, sequins, and rhinestones allowed. Can be off the rack or custom made.

  3. Hair can be up do or down, no full falls; small donut type hair pieces are allowed.

  4. No fake nails, eye lashes, or teeth. Fake natural looking tans are allowed.

 

4-9yr Supreme group

1.      Make-up light skin tone base, light blush, mascara, & lip gloss with light color.

2.      Dress can be short, long or tee length Baby Doll, Flower girl or formal type gown. Custom made or off the rack. Low embellishments small amount of rhinestones, pearls or sequins are allowed.

3.      Hair can be up do or down, no falls; small donut type hair pieces are allowed.

4.      No fake nails, eye lashes, or teeth. Fake natural looking tans are allowed.

 

10-up Supreme group

1.      Make-up: full make-up, but not pageant make-up. What you would wear to school or church.

2.      Dress can be long or tee length prom gown, formal gown, or low glitz gown. Gown can be off the rack or custom made.

3.      Hair can be any style that you would wear to a party or church.

4.      10-up may wear fake nails & eye lashes. Fake natural looking tans are allowed.

Remember, they are just children and they maybe bashful and have scratches and bumps. They should not cry or suck their thumb in beauty or points will be ducted. THERE IS NOT A SCORE FOR MODELING OR GOING TO THE RIGHT X. We are looking for natural, wholesome contestants. The judges are not searching for a “Miniature Adult” or “Vegas Showgirl.” Beauty competition is not based on how much money is spent on clothing. Our judges will be judging the contestants on Facial beauty, their ability to capture their audience including the judges, how well they are put together, how well their clothes fit and look on them, and their ability to walk across the stage with grace and poise and personality

Optional wear Rules:

CASUAL WEAR, SWIMWEAR, SLEEPWEAR: these may be embellished but keep it at a minimum. 
Every pageant may have one or two of these categories. No pageant will have all of them. These outfits may be custom made or off the rack. PROPS ARE WELCOMED AND ENCOURAGED. These categories are judged on the creativity of the outfit, appropriate fit and personality/stage projection of contestant. 1 or 2 piece swim suits may be worn. Please, No string swim suits.

NO Gymnastics Moves in any Optional wear. This includes back flips, cartwheels, aerials, handsprings, or anything else that resembles gymnastics. You may do heel kicks, prissy walk, facial expressions, but NO GYMNASTICS in any Optional wear. Points will be deducted (1 point per-judge) if you do any gymnastics. This is for the safety of our contestants

Costume Wear/Holiday Wear/Theme Wear

(either regular costume, storybook costume, valentine wear or patriotic costume, etc.):
This category is a little more flashy. Contestants may wear rhinestones, sequins, beads, glitter, feathers, fur, etc. Also, contestants my wear makeup to complete the costume, such as clown painted face, cats whiskers, etc. and wigs to complete the costume. Anything goes.

PHOTOGENIC:
Do not judge the photographer....only the child. Pick a child that the camera loves. A child you would expect to see in a print advertisement. Photos may be snapshot or professional photos. Limited enhancements are allowed, remember this is a natural pageant system and we are not looking for children that look 21 years old or full glitz photos.

Each contestant will be on stage approximately 60-90 seconds individually. In beauty, after each contestant has been judged individually there will be a final line-up. During the lineup judges are to score/choose the side /group awards. In Optional wear (casual wear, swimwear, sleepwear, patriotic wear or costume wear) there will not be a final lineup.

Remember, they are just children and they maybe bashful and have scratches and bumps. They should not cry or suck their thumb in beauty or points will be ducted.
